- Door size and panel count. Six-foot two-panel doors are the most common and the least expensive. Eight-foot, three-panel and four-panel doors need more material and more hands on install day.
- Frame and glass type. Basic aluminum with clear tempered glass costs least. Vinyl frames, insulated low-E glass and laminated impact glass each step the price up along with the performance.
- Opening condition. A rotted wood buck, a cracked sill or an out-of-square opening means carpentry before the new door goes in. We spot this at the measure so there are no surprises.
- Permit requirements. Like-for-like replacement of an exterior door is permitted work in Hillsborough, Pinellas and Pasco. The fee and inspection time are part of your quote.
